Carol Singing at Wyatt House

On Tuesday 13th December, Year 6 visited local care home Wyatt House to sing to the residents. We sang many traditional carols and our audience joined in.

Carol Singing

On Monday December 12th, we didn't let the rain dampen our spirits as we went on our annual evening of carol singing around the estate. We sang for 40 minutes in the pouring rain before returning to school for a well earned hot chocolate. We had a great turnout of nearly 2/3 of Year 5 & 6 and raised £82.83 for Cancer Research UK.

As part of our Egyptian topic we have undertaken many fun tasks, a selection of which you can see here. We investigated how many blocks it would take to build different sized pyramids before making our own and made working shadufs. We have tried on the costumes of rich and poor people and tried making mummies using bandages.

On Thursday 20th October, Years 5 & 6 spent the morning making healthy lunchboxes as part of their DT topic.  The children designed and made their own sandwiches, vegetable kebab and apple & carrot muffin which, with a piece of fruit, constituted a healthy and balanced lunchbox. You can see how much they enjoyed it by looking at these slideshows.

On Thursday 6th October, we held our Harvest Festival.
Reception & Year 1 sang "Cauliflowers Fluffy," Year 2 read some acrostic poems, Year 3 performed "Harvest For The World," Year 4 told us about the food they liked in French, Mr Sisson's class told us about inequalities in the world and Mrs Foulkes' class read a Harvest Prayer.
Then the Year 6 children made the bumper crop of produce we received into soup and distributed it to the Senior Citizens at the Sheltered Housing Estate, along with food parcels. Thankyou to everyone who donated produce and to Mrs Wood & Mrs Peasnell for their help in soup making and serving.
