World Book Day On Thursday March 4th for World Book Day, Year 2 came down to Little Learners to share books with the younger children.
We put on a lovely Christmas performance for our parents and the infants of Callowell School.
Children In Need We dressed up in spotty clothes to raise money for Children In Need. It was great fun!
Fire Safety Two fire fighters and their fire engine arrived at Callowell. The fire fighters gave the children a fascinating fire safety talk. They then dressed up a member of staff as a fire fighter before taking the children out to climb aboard the fire engine. This was followed by fun with the hose and then the lights and sirens were turned on which caused great excitement.
Poi Making and Fire Show Lana
Robinson came to Callowell Club to help the children make poi from bags of rice,
fabric, ribbons and cords.
We then practised twirling these outside which was great fun.
Sybil & the Snowballs Sybil Edwards came in to introduce the children to the Snowball Gang; this is an artwork inspired by paper snowballs made with recycled paper. So far the Gang consists of nearly 4000 paper snowballs but their target is to reach 10,000 by August 2010 in order to build a giant snowball pyramid as a temporary artwork. We had great fun soaking lots of used paper and turning it into snowballs. You can find out how we made paper snowballs at www.thesnowballgang.com
Little Learners Leavers Party On Friday 10th July we had a party for the School Leavers from Little Learners. We had Abacus magic to entertain us, and he was very funny! We all enjoyed his show. We had party food after the show, and then we played some party games including musical bumps and musical statues. Thanks to everyone who came to make the party extra special for the children who will be leaving us.
Bristol Zoo Trip On
Friday 3rd July we went on our trip to Bristol Zoo. We had a great
day out. We saw lots of animals including penguins, seals, lions, monkeys and
many many more. We enjoyed a picnic at lunch time with all the children and
helpers, and we even got to have an ice pop too. Thank you to all the adult
helpers who came along to help out for the day. We had a fantastic time!
Eating Paparojotes On Thursday 21st May, our visiting Spanish teacher Carmen, with the help of Mr Sisson & Mrs Turner, made us the traditional Murcian treat of paparojotes. They were lovely. To see older news, click here |
