The Friends of Callowell

The Friends Of Callowell are a group of parents who support the school and it's activities in a wide range of ways from providing refreshments to raising money.

Here are the minutes of our last meeting:

Minutes for PTA : 6/2/12

Attendance  :           , Nicki Baker, Bron Bird, Nikki Benstock, Linda Wall, Miranda Toman, Tracey Wilson, Jackie McNeil, Napsi Beaumont

Agenda         :           This meeting was to discuss future events and ideas on how to get more parents support for the PTA

·         PTA to contribute to Trim Trail ( 3 Items ) about £3000. We will also contribute  Rapid Maths / Reading CD’s, about £100, for Bernie Porter. Could Linda ask Bernie for an approximate price so we can get a cheque drawn up?

·         Linda Wall will speak to Mr Sisson regarding the My Maths CD’s for Year 6 Maths.

·         The 2010/11 Year 6’s Apprentice Winners bench needs to be ordered and placed on the fields facing the playing fields.

·         The Summer Fair date has been set for the 7^th July 2012 from 12pm – 4pm. We have decided to have a theme this year and it is the Wild Wild West

·         We are going to get committees within the PTA together in order for the Summer Fair to run smoothly.

·         The PTA will be sending a questionnaire home by the 10^th February for Parents to read and fill in (Hopefully!) This will help the parents to understand what we do as a PTA for Callowell, as well as assist us with what events etc the parents would like from us. The cut off for the returns of the questionnaire will be the 24^th February. Bronwynne to send out a reminder by the 22^nd of February – Linda Wall could possibly text parents as well.

Any Other Business

·         It was mentioned that it could be a good idea for the school to have a Digital Notice Board – Linda Wall will have a look into this.

·         We are considering a Movie evening for both KS1 & KS2. Bronwynne is to check what we need to do regarding a license to view a DVD on the school Premises. We are looking at buying a new release DVD and will charge the children £1 entry. This is to include a drink and bag of popcorn. The date will be the 30^th March from 17.45pm to 19.30pm.  The DVD we buy will be raffled at the Summer Fair.

·         The next PTA event is going to be on the 27^th April 2012. This date may change depending on what event we are running with and how much preparation it will involve.

·         We are also going to do a Book Fair each Term and we will be asking Parents and Children to bring books in to school to donate. We will be decorating a box which will be stored in the school for all donations that come in. Linda Wall to confirm where we are able to store the box please.

Next PTA Meeting will be on the Monday 27^th February at 8pm at the School!
