RE Statement of Intent
We provide the opportunity for all pupils to explore religions and beliefs and the differences these make to how people live their lives. We aim for pupils to gain knowledge, understanding and skills so that they can handle questions raised by religion and belief, while reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
Implementation of RE at Callowell
We follow the Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE (2017-22). The teaching and learning approach of the syllabus has three core elements; making sense of beliefs, making connections and understanding the impact. These elements are woven together to create breadth and balance, while underpinning the aims of the RE curriculum. Across key stages children will encounter diverse religious traditions alongside non-religious worldviews.
We provide opportunities for all children to take part in a variety of WOW experiences including trips and workshops, specialist visitors, topic days, topic boxes and cross-curricular creativity. We aim for this immersion to support children’s engagement and enthusiasm while embedding their learning.
