Beech Class: Year 1 & 2

General information 

  • Our PE days are on a Wednesday and Friday this half term. This is subject to change on a half termly basis. Our PE kit consists of: a navy P.E top, blue/black shorts/jogging bottoms and trainers. Please ensure suitable P.E kit is provided in the cold weather.
  • On a Tuesday we will have forest school this half term. Please send your child into school in PE kit that is suitable for outdoor learning (long trousers and long sleevel top).
  • Reading diaries must be in school each day. The expectation is that each child will read at home a minimum of three times a week. This will be checked by the class teacher on a Friday, and it is important that parents sign the diary. 

Summer Term 2026


In English this term we will be reading The Kindest Red, Winnie the Witch and Fantastic Mr Fox, these texts will be influencing our writing outcomes such as a letter, diary entries, instructions and a non-chronological report.

In Maths we are covering:

Year 1: Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Measurement: time, money and mass and capacity.

Year 2: Multiplication and Division, Measurement, Statistics and Addition and Subtraction

In History, we will be looking at Transport and Travel.

 In Geography, we will be exploring Beside the Sea

In Science, we will be studying Spring and Summer alongside continuing our learning about Amazing Animals

 In Art, we will be focusing on Landscapes and art from around the world​

In Music, our unit is: Exploring improvisation

In R.E.W, our Big question will be: What is it like to be brought up in a Hindu home in the UK today?

In PSHE, our key units are:

Relationships (Summer term 1)

Changing me (Spring term 2) 

In P.E our key units are Athletics, Orienteering and Games
