Beech Class: Year 1 & 2

General information 

 

  • Our PE days are on a Friday this half term. This is subject to change on a half termly basis. Our PE kit consists of: a yellow P.E top, blue/black shorts/jogging bottoms and trainers. Please ensure suitable P.E kit is provided in the cold weather. 
  • Reading diaries must be in school each day. The expectation is that each child will read at home a minimum of three times a week. This will be checked by the class teacher on a Friday, and it is important that parents sign the diary. 

Summer term 2025

In History, we will be looking at two significant individuals: Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We will be exploring both of their achievements and how this has impacted our lives today. In Geography, we will be conducting local studies of our area to develop our mapping skills.

In Science, we will be studying 'Living Things and Their Habitats', as well as revisiting seasons and the weather.

 In Art, we will be focusing on 3D sculpture. We will be looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy to inspire some of our own artwork. In DT, we will be exploring structures and which techniques we can use to make strong ones.

 

In Music, our units are:

Having Fun with Improvisation (Summer term 1)

In R.E, our key questions will be:

1.7 Who is Jewish and how do they live?
