We are so excited to welcome you and your child to Sycamore Class this year! We’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences together.


šŸ« General Information

  • PE Days: Monday and Friday
    On these days, children should come to school wearing their PE kit. Our PE kit includes:

    • Navy PE top
    • Blue or black shorts/jogging bottoms
    • Trainers
      As the weather gets colder in November and December, please ensure your child has warm clothing suitable for outdoor PE.
    • Please remember that Friday's are our swimming days
  • Reading Diaries:
    Reading diaries must be brought to school every day. Children are expected to read at home at least three times a week. Diaries will be checked by Mr Bailey every Thursday, so please ensure they are signed by a parent or guardian.


Ā Our Learning in the Spring Term

  • Our Learning in the Spring Term

    • Maths:
      We’ll begin with Calculating Fractions and Ratio and Proportions then move onto Measurements(converting units and Area & Volume, followed by work on Algebra.
    • English:
      Our core texts this term are Michael Morpurgo’s Beowulf and Janina Ramirez’s Riddle of the Runes. Both of these will inspire a range of writing outcomes including narratives, recounts and non-chronological reports.
    • Science:
      We’ll explore Evolution and Inheritance Ā developing our understanding of adaptations, characteristics, Ā natural selection and palaeontology.
    • History:
      Our focus will be on the Vikings, where we’ll build skills in chronology, historical enquiry, and using primary and secondary sources.
    • Geography:
      We’ll investigate Asia, exploring how it’s Mountains, Volcanoes and Earthquakes
    • Design & Technology (DT):
      This term’s DT project will focus on Celebrating Culture and Seasonality through food.
    • French:
      We’ll learn about Habitats and clothes.
    • PSHE:
      Our themes are "Dreams and Goals" and "Healthy Me", helping us understand ourselves and others.
    • Computing:
      We’ll strengthen our online safety knowledge and develop our coding skills.
    • PE:
      This term we’ll be developing our skills in: Netball, Dance and Swimming.
    • RE:
      We’ll explore:
      • How the Torah influences people today?
      • Why the belief that Jesus ā€˜saved; people might be important to Christians?
    • Music:
      We’ll listen to and appraise a variety of music styles, and develop our composing skills.
