We are so excited to welcome you and your child to Sycamore Class this year! We’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences together.


🏫 General Information

  • PE Days: Monday and Friday
    On these days, children should come to school wearing their PE kit. Our PE kit includes:

    • Navy PE top
    • Blue or black shorts/jogging bottoms
    • Trainers
      As the weather gets colder in November and December, please ensure your child has warm clothing suitable for outdoor PE.
    • Please remember that Friday's are our swimming days
  • Reading Diaries:
    Reading diaries must be brought to school every day. Children are expected to read at home at least three times a week. Diaries will be checked by Mr Bailey every Thursday, so please ensure they are signed by a parent or guardian.


 Our Learning in the Summer Term

  • Our Learning in the Summer Term

    • In Maths we will be revisiting how to calculate with fractions and then move onto Statistics. We will also be preparing for our transition to secondary school by revisiting key topics in our 'Moving on Up' sessions.
    • In English we will focus on the text 'The Closest Thing to Flying' before then moving onto 'Cogheart' in the second half of the summer term. These texts will feed into many different writing outcomes such as story writing, poetry and newspaper writing. 
    • We will begin our Science learning by looking at Electricity before moving onto Growing Older.
    • In History we will look at the history of Baghdad. Within these lessons, we will develop our historical skills of chronology, historical enquiry and how primary and secondary sources shape our understanding of the past.
    • For our Geography learning, we will be learning all about Biomes and Vegetation.
    • In DT this term, we will looking at electrical systems, making hand made switches.
    • French this term will have a focus on Clothes, School items, lessons and finally the Vikings.
    • For our PSHE learning, we focus on how we can best make and maintain healthy 'Relationships', alongside an awareness of how we will change as we grow older
    • Computing will allow us to make progress with our online safety knowledge as well as developing our knowledge in databases and concept maps.
    • Our PE learning this term will cover Cricket, Orienteering and Athletics.
    • In RE we will be learning about how non religious people understand and respond to the world and life along with how different religious or individual beliefs help people when life becomes difficult.
    • Music for this term will give us the opportunity to begin improvising and composing with confidence of different notes that go together.
