Birch Class: Year 3 & 4

General Information
  • Your child should come to school with their PE Kit on Tuesdays and Fridays this term. Our PE Kit consists of a navy PE top, blue/black shorts/jogging bottoms and trainers. We will have one indoor PE slot and one outdoor PE slot so please ensure your child has suitable clothing for outdoor learning on both days.
  • Year 3 children will be taking part in Forest School on Tuesday afternoons until February half term. Please can children attend school in PE kit as usual every Tuesday and also bring a coat, hat, gloved and welly boots.
  • Reading diaries must be in school at the beginning of each day. The expectation is that each child will read at home at least three times a week. This will be checked by the class teacher on Thursdays. Please make sure parents or guardians sign the diary. 
  • Children can access 'Times Tables Rockstars' at home. Please can children be encouraged to practice at least 3 times a week.

Summer term
  • Class Texts: The Wild Robot by Peter Brown and Odysseus.
  • Maths: In Maths we will be learning fractions/decimals, measurement, geometry, and statistics.
  • English: This will feed into many different writing outcomes such as diary entries, biographies, narratives, and discussion texts.
  • History: We will look at the Ancient Egyptians. Within these lessons, we will develop our historical skills of chronology, historical enquiry, and how primary and secondary sources shape our understanding of the past.
  • Geography: For our Geography learning, we will be studying Europe.
  • Art: Our Art lessons will give us the opportunity to evaluate and create abstract art by Salvador Dali.
  • DT (Design and Technology): This term, we will be focusing on Textiles – we will be making bendy bags!
  • French: French this term will have a focus on abilities, classroom items, and pets.
  • PSHE: For our PSHE learning, we will focus on relationships and healthy bodies.
  • Computing: Computing will allow us to make progress with our online safety knowledge as well as developing our knowledge in graphing, microbits, and simulations.
  • PE: Our PE learning this term will be orienteering, games, and athletics.
  • Music: Music for this term will give us the opportunity to learn how to play the recorder.
